National Estimating & Purchasing Lead
Construction Supply 
An established national supplier to the residential building sector is seeking an experienced leader to take ownership of its Estimating, Ordering, and Purchasing function.
 
This business plays a major role in the delivery of new homes across Australia, supplying and installing key building products including steel frames, roofing, cladding, guttering, downpipes, garage doors and internal linings.
This is a broad leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys improving teams, systems and commercial outcomes.
 
You will lead a team of around 35 people with responsibility for creating a more consistent, scalable and commercially effective national function.
 
What You’ll Be Driving
 
This role sits at the centre of estimating accuracy, purchasing discipline, operational support and margin performance.
 
You will be responsible for improving how the function operates nationally, making sure the right systems, controls, processes and reporting are in place to support continued growth.
 
Key focus areas will include:

• Leading national estimating, ordering, purchasing and administration teams
• Building stronger consistency across systems, workflows and reporting
• Improving estimating accuracy and purchasing controls
• Driving margin improvement through better commercial decision-making
• Identifying opportunities for automation and system optimisation
• Coaching and developing both local and offshore teams
• Working closely with operations, sales, finance and project teams
• Managing supplier performance, cost improvement and purchasing risk
• Supporting senior leadership with insight, reporting and strategic input

What We’re Looking For
 
This role will suit someone who has led teams in a busy operational, commercial or construction-related environment.

You do not need to come from exactly the same product background, but you will need to understand how estimating, procurement, administration, cost control and operational performance connect.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Residential construction
• Building products
• Manufacturing
• Steel framing, roofing, cladding or trade supply
• Volume home building
• Construction procurement
• Commercial operations
• Shared services or offshore team leadership

You will bring:

• Proven experience leading medium to large teams
• Strong commercial awareness
• Confidence working with data, reporting and performance metrics
• A track record of improving processes and systems
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to build accountability across teams
• Experience working with offshore teams would be highly regarded
• Qualifications in Construction Management, Commerce, Business or similar would be advantageous
