QLD Operations Manager Insurance Building & Repairs

Salary: Up to $200,000 + Super + Bonus
We are recruiting for an experienced QLD Operations Manager to take ownership of the Queensland operations of an established insurance building, repairs and construction business.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for operational performance, team leadership, commercial outcomes, client relationships, quality, safety and continued growth across the Queensland business.
The successful candidate will lead an established operational team and work closely with Estimators, Supervisors, Project Managers, Coordinators, subcontractors, insurers and senior management.
This role would suit an experienced Operations Manager, Construction Manager, State Manager or senior insurance building professional who understands both the operational and commercial requirements of running a successful building and repairs division.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day performance of the Queensland operation
- Manage and support operational teams across insurance repairs, reinstatement, remediation and construction projects
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to agreed quality standards
- Monitor workflow, job allocation, project progress and operational capacity
- Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions
- Develop and improve internal processes, systems and procedures
- Support the continued growth and development of the Queensland operation
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop Estimators, Supervisors, Project Managers, Coordinators and other operational staff
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability across the team
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and professional development
- Conduct performance reviews and address performance issues where required
- Maintain strong team engagement, communication and morale
- Promote an inclusive, professional and high-performance culture
Commercial & Financial Management
- Take responsibility for operational and financial performance across the Queensland business
- Monitor project margins, costs, budgets and profitability
- Review and approve quotes, scopes, variations and costings where required
- Ensure projects remain commercially viable throughout delivery
- Contribute to annual budgets, forecasting and financial planning
- Analyse operational performance and identify areas for improvement
- Provide fully costed recommendations for capital expenditure and asset requirements
- Support senior management with reporting and business planning
Insurance & Construction Delivery
- Oversee insurance repair and reinstatement projects across Queensland
- Ensure scopes of work accurately reflect damage, repair requirements and construction methodology
- Support Estimators and Supervisors with technically complex claims and projects
- Ensure variations and additional works are identified, documented and appropriately approved
- Monitor project timeframes, quality and customer outcomes
- Ensure building works comply with relevant building codes, standards and contractual requirements
- Assist with escalated customer, insurer or project issues where required
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, loss adjusters, clients and key stakeholders
- Act as a senior escalation point for operational and service matters
- Maintain a high standard of communication and customer service
- Participate in client meetings, performance reviews and operational discussions
- Identify opportunities to strengthen existing client relationships
- Support business development and growth opportunities across Queensland
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior construction, building or operational management position
- Demonstrated experience leading construction or insurance building teams
- Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction
- Experience managing project budgets, margins, scopes, variations and commercial performance
- Strong knowledge of construction techniques, building codes and relevant legislation
- Demonstrated people leadership and team management experience
- Construction White Card
- Current Australian driver’s licence
Highly Regarded
- Experience within insurance repairs, restoration, reinstatement or remedial construction
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Construction Manager, State Manager, Senior Project Manager, Senior Supervisor or Senior Estimator
- Trade Certificate in Carpentry
- Domestic Builder Unlimited licence or ability to qualify
- Experience working directly with insurers and loss adjusters
- Experience managing high-volume insurance repair programs
- Experience overseeing teams across multiple locations
