Our client, a leading logistics provider, is seeking an experienced Import/ Export Freight Forwarder to join their team in Sydney CBD.

This role requires a strong understanding of international shipping, customs regulations, and the ability to manage complex freight operations efficiently using industry-standard tools like CargoWise. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating shipments, maintaining compliance, and ensuring smooth communication with customers, suppliers, and international partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate both sea and air freight import/export operations, ensuring compliance with Australian Customs and international shipping requirements.
  • Utilise CargoWise to manage bookings, shipment documentation, and customs reporting for both imports and exports.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers, suppliers, and international partners, ensuring timely communication and resolution of shipping issues.
  • Manage freight forwarding processes including pricing, quotes, and operational scheduling, with a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior coordinators, assisting with day-to-day tasks, operational queries, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all shipments, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and proactively resolve issues related to shipments, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years of freight forwarding experience within Australia, with a strong understanding of local import/export regulations and procedures.
  • Extensive experience in freight coordination and a solid working knowledge of CargoWise or other freight management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-volume shipments with precision, using systems to streamline operations.
  • Strong understanding of international trade, customs procedures, and logistics operations.
  • Ability to handle time-sensitive shipments and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members and assisting with operational tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing demands, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (highly desirable).
