New South Wales, Australia

Permanent

Make Safe Coordinator
Location: Sydney
Full Time | Permanent | Monday-Friday | Office Based

An established and growing insurance building business is seeking a Make Safe Coordinator to join its Sydney team.

This is a critical role within the business, responsible for coordinating emergency response works following insured events such as storms, water damage, fire, impact damage and other property-related incidents.

Working alongside customers, trades, supervisors, estimators and insurers, you’ll be responsible for ensuring properties are made safe quickly, efficiently and in line with insurer service level requirements.

This role would suit someone coming from insurance claims, trade coordination, restoration, facilities management, construction administration, scheduling, customer service or a trades background looking to move off the tools.
About the Role When a customer experiences property damage, you’ll often be one of the first people they speak with.

Whether it’s a burst pipe, storm damage, fallen tree, vehicle impact or fire event, you’ll coordinate the immediate response required to secure the property and minimise further damage.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly, requiring strong judgement, excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and action new make-safe and emergency response instructions
  • Assess claim information and determine urgency and required response

  • Monitor contractor attendance and ensure insurer timeframes are met
  • Liaise with customers, insurers, assessors, brokers and internal teams
  • Provide regular updates and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Review photos, reports, invoices and completion documentation
  • Escalate safety concerns, vulnerable customer situations and complex claims
  • Maintain accurate claim notes and records across multiple systems
  • Support the handover of claims from emergency works through to permanent repairs
  • Assist during major weather and catastrophe events when claim volumes increase
