Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee manufacturing operations at their Kilkenny site. This role is pivotal in implementing Lean Manufacturing methodologies, with a focus on reducing operational costs and enhancing efficiency across the production process. The Operations Manager will lead a team of 40 permanent staff, including the Factory Manager, Production Manager, Leading Hands, and General Operations staff.
With a turnover of approximately $15 million, the business is in the early stages of adopting Lean processes. This is an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful change and contribute to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.
- Review current operations, identify areas for improvement, and create actionable plans for applying Lean strategies.
- Collaborate with a team of 40 staff members (including Factory Manager, Production Manager, Leading Hands, and General Operations staff) to integrate Lean methods into day-to-day operations.
- Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives through Lean processes, tracking progress using KPIs.
- Expand and optimise the use of digital Kanban processes to improve workflow and inventory control.
- Manage the production budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet cost-saving goals.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to deliver measurable results from previous Lean Manufacturing roles.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational goals with the company’s broader business strategy.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong experience in managing large-scale manufacturing operations, with a solid background in Lean Manufacturing.
- Proven track record in cost reduction, improving efficiency, and delivering results through Lean initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and execute effective Lean strategies.
- Experience leading and managing a diverse team while embedding Lean principles throughout the production process.
- Familiarity with digital Kanban systems or similar production management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to drive measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction.
