Project Engineer
Location: Brisbane, with projects across South East Queensland and wider Queensland
Employment Type: Full-time
A well-established civil contractor is looking for a Project Engineer to join its Brisbane team, working across a diverse range of projects throughout SEQ and Queensland.
This business delivers complex civil works including pipeline construction, trenchless works, culverts, shafts, roadworks, bulk earthworks, demolition and associated infrastructure packages. The role would suit someone who enjoys a fast-moving environment, takes ownership of work packages, and can adapt quickly as project priorities shift.
The Role You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering day-to-day engineering activities across assigned project packages, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to specification.
This is a hands-on site-based role suited to an engineer with experience across civil infrastructure, particularly pipelines, trenchless works, structures or heavy earthworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate upcoming works, including staging, short-term programs and methodologies
- Prepare and review SWMS, task briefings and temporary works documentation
- Coordinate permits, utility investigations, service locates and hold points
- Manage survey, set-out, as-built information and drawing mark-ups
- Maintain QA documentation including ITPs, check sheets and project records
- Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, including scopes, pre-starts, progress and close-out
- Work closely with site supervisors and foremen to meet production targets
- Track quantities, productivity and cost performance across allocated packages
- Assist with RFIs, design queries, variations, claims support and reporting
- Ensure safety, environmental and quality obligations are met across all works
- Liaise with clients, superintendents, service authorities, inspectors and internal teams
- Provide clear updates to project leadership on program, risks, cost and delivery issues
Project Exposure The role will involve works across areas such as:
- Stormwater, sewer and watermain infrastructure
- Pipe jacking, microtunnelling and trenchless delivery
- Shaft and culvert construction
- Excavation, backfill and compaction
- Pavements, reinstatement and associated civil works
- Dewatering, traffic interfaces, live services and community constraints
About You To be considered, you will ideally bring:
- 3+ years’ post-graduate experience as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer
- Civil project experience across pipelines, trenchless, culverts, structures, roadworks or complex earthworks
- Strong understanding of QA processes, ITPs, temporary works and live site delivery
- Experience managing packages from early works through to completion and as-builts
- Ability to perform in a busy, high-accountability environment where priorities can change quickly
- Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar
- Construction White Card
- Current driver’s licence
Desirable Systems Experience Exposure to any of the below would be beneficial:

- Assignar
- Aconex or similar document control systems
- MS Project or Primavera
- AutoCAD, 12d or Bluebeam
- Microsoft 365
