An established civil contractor is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join its team in Cairns and deliver road and civil infrastructure projects across Far North Queensland.

This is a senior, hands-on role suited to someone from a Tier 2 or Tier 3 civil contractor who is comfortable taking full ownership of project delivery, managing site teams and working closely with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.

For candidates relocating to Cairns, the company will provide accommodation for the first three months while you secure longer-term housing.
The Role You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of civil infrastructure projects, including planning, programming, commercial management, client liaison, subcontractor coordination and site team leadership.

Projects are generally located in Cairns or within two to three hours of the city. Most operate Monday to Friday, with additional uplift and living-away-from-home allowances provided when working away.

Some more remote projects may operate on a 10 days on, 4 days off roster.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage civil infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to completion
• Lead project engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and site crews
• Maintain project programs, budgets, forecasts and reporting
• Manage client relationships and project communications
• Oversee quality, safety, environmental and compliance requirements
• Coordinate procurement, subcontractors and project resources
• Identify and manage project risks
• Support tender handovers and project planning
• Deliver projects safely, on time and within budget

About You

• Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil construction
• Strong TMR project delivery experience
• Background with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 civil contractor
• Experience managing full project teams and construction crews
• Hands-on understanding of civil construction delivery
• Strong commercial, contractual and programming capability
• Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related qualification
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to relocate to Cairns
