The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join a well-established Melbourne engineering consultancy.

Working as part of a growing team, you will play a key role in the delivery of stormwater management strategies, flood modelling, hydraulic assessments and drainage design projects across a broad range of civil infrastructure, buildings and land development developments.

This position offers the opportunity to remain hands-on technically while contributing to project leadership, client management and mentoring. It is ideally suited to an experienced engineer looking to further develop their technical expertise and take on greater responsibility within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Stormwater Management Strategies.
  • Undertake flood, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling assessments.
  • Deliver drainage design solutions for civil infrastructure, buildings and land development projects.
  • Liaise with Melbourne Water, local councils and relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate project delivery across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Conduct technical reviews and contribute to quality assurance processes.
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior engineers.
  • Support client relationship management and project delivery outcomes.
  • Prepare technical reports and approvals documentation.
  • Contribute specialist water resources advice across a range of projects.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 6-10+ years’ experience in water resources, stormwater or drainage engineering within Victoria.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard water resources and drainage software such as TUFLOW, 12d, DRAINS or similar modelling and design packages.
  • Strong experience in flood modelling and flood impact assessments.
  • Demonstrated capability in hydraulic and hydrologic modelling.
  • Experience preparing Stormwater Management Strategies.
  • Detailed drainage design experience across civil infrastructure, buildings and/or land development projects.
  • Sound understanding of Melbourne Water standards, requirements and approval processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and client management skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.

You will require full Australian working rights and local Victorian engineering consultancy experience to be considered for this position.
